I have contacted the auction house and shipper about the cost of the packing and shipping. Might just be that my expectation was wrong, but didn't seem like one box would cost $166 to pack/ship-turns out that it was a rather large box. Also, received the shipment today, and one item was broken-it had not been packed so that it was immobilized.

One small pottery vessel, part of a group [ of 13 small pieces, was damaged in packing by the auction house. Michael Strawser offered to refund my entire purchase price, which was more than kind of him. I told him that things happen, and that this was good of him, but not necessary. I am really impressed by his good customer relations.

$42 for shipping an item that's about 4inches square is gouging. Really disgusted with this.

I felt the cost of shipping would preclude me from bidding at any future auctions.

Big disconnect between Strawser Dry Dock and shipping company. After paying, I had to do repeated followup on where my won items were and the shipping company I chose. I had to call and follow up. Still do not have package shipped from September 30th

No complaints about Strawser, but I won't be bidding again with this house because the local shipper gouged me. My items could have been mailed first-class mail and I would have paid a reasonable handling charge, but the cost was almost $40 for a few ounces of Bakelite jewelry.

The shipping cost was not included with the cost of the item. This is the first time it as happened and turns out the shipping cost was almost twice the cost of the item. So I've asked them for a money back minus an administrative costs. The owner has contacted me and the solution was to re-put the item in the next auction and get whatever money back from the selling by the item. Thanks for reading me! Benoit

This was my first time winning an item from the auction, so I was unfamiliar with the process. After I sent my payment, I got an email that shipping information would be emailed on Monday. I waited until Wednesday, when I contacted them and they sent me the information. I was unsure of how to send the form, so I just emailed the consent and address. I had spoken the shippers on the phone, and they said as soon as they picked up the item, they would send an invoice. Several days later, I received a reminder that my payment was due. I was happy overall with the auction thank you.

WIth items with flaws it would be helpful to have an additional picture/close up of it. The pictures of items are bright and well taken

When I removed the sticker on my antique Majolica item, the stick was so strong it removed paint from the item. Very disappointing! I don't understand how an experienced auction house could be so negligent!

There are 2 serious issues w/this auction house & virtually all others using LA: 1) condition descriptions (& often dimensions) aren't provided. They have to be requested. This makes no sense whatsoever. 2) most of the auction houses do not ship items themselves (even small items) necessitating customers paying exorbitant prices to 3rd party shippers. The auction houses seem to have no awareness that we, the customers, are paying often exorbitant BPs, & we get nothing in return (see the above 2 points). We, like everyone else, want some value for our money. I should also give credit to Strawser for its reasonable BP; the same cannot be said for most auction houses on LA.-Abby

I disliked that you were responsible for arranging for a shipping company to pick up your items, especially if you are unfamiliar with the choices. My chosen company didn't offer me options but merely sent me an invoice for $75 which shocked me. The auction house answered my questions with little detail. On the plus side, the doll I won was in better condition than anticipated and I am very happy with the actual item.

The items were as described and very nice, but Strawser was not helpful at all about shipping. The shippers (PAK MAIL) were quite helpful after the fact, and did a great job packing, but were monumentally expensive. Had I known about the cost, I would not have bid as high or on as many items.

Paid May 27 by PayPal. Sent list of four shipping houses, one email came back. Finally got a quote from one and went with them. Then had to sign a release form for the auction house and send it to them. Finally heard from shipper YESTERDAY that they were shipping. So in another couple of weeks I might have my items. Will not deal with again, shipping is to slow and convoluted.

There has been no problem with the auction houses I have experienced. The problem is with LIVE AUCTIONEERS. More often than not it does not let me bid live causing me loss of items I would have increased my bid if I could. Last Saturday, June 11, I was able to bid live on one auction but not on another. I had a previous bid of $600 on a taxidermy trophy mount that I was not going to increase. The bidding went to $600 & then $650 by a "competing bid" then changed to sold to me for $650. Figure that one out. I am done with LIVE AUCTIONEERS.

I really have no opinion one way or another. However, I prefer auction houses that do their own packing and shipping. I am also looking at auction houses that do not charge over 29 % buyer fees. Items are expensive enough, especially with the shipping.
